Spherics is developing a portfolio of value-added, proprietary oral products in the neurology area based on its proprietary oral delivery technologies. Spherics’ competitive advantage is based on utilization of its proprietary bioadhesive polymers (Spheromers™, BIOadhesive Gastro-Intestinal Targeted delivery system (BIOGIT™) and BIOadhesive Regulated Oral Delivery system (BIOROD™). These targeted oral delivery approaches improve drug performance by increasing absorption and residence time in specific regions of the gastrointestinal tract. In addition, Spherics’ Phase Inversion Nanotechnology (PIN™) enables oral and non-oral delivery of biologics, poorly soluble drugs and/or drugs with low permeability. These approaches provide a wide range of targeted delivery solutions that span all drug classes.

These broadly enabling technologies expand the therapeutic benefits of drugs that otherwise do not remain at the target absorptive site long enough to be effective or have issues of low bioavailability when administered systemically. The precise delivery at the targeted gastro-intestinal absorptive sites allows Spherics to extend the therapeutic nature of a variety of drugs, especially those with a narrow therapeutic window, thus improving drug efficacy, reducing side effects and ensuring dosing compliance.
